Positive cases climb by 270 to inch closer to 10K mark

Imphal, September 22 2020:
The State recorded 270 fresh cases of COVID-19 during the last 24 hours while the recovery rate further declined.
This is the highest jump in the number of positive cases on a single day.
A senior IAS officer has also tested positive for the virus, said a late evening report today.
The test was conducted at JNIMS.
Out of 347 samples tested at JNIMS, 72 have tested positive, according to a late evening report.
The late report of 72 positive cases has not been included in the total of 270 cases recorded in the last 24 hours.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, 270 people included 56 personnel of CAPF were tested positive during the last 24 hours at RIMS, JNIMS, Swiss Clinic, Raj Medicity, Raj Medicity, Shija Hospital, Kamjong, Imphal East, Mothers' Care, RD Wing, Senapati, Tamenglong, Thoubal, Chandel, Churachandpur, Bishnupur, Kakching, IRL, Jivan Hospital, Imphal West and Babina Diagnostics.
Of the 214 civilians who have been tested positive, 54 belong to Imphal West, 100 to Imphal East, 29 to Thoubal, three to Tengnoupal, six to Bishnupur, seven to Kakching, three to Chandel, one to Kangpokpi, five to Churachandpur, one to Kamjong, one to Senapati and four to Tamenglong.
Out of them, 205 have no significant history of travelling outside the State.
In the meantime, 49 people were discharged during the last 24 hours from RIMS (6), RD Wing (15), Kangpokpi (1), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (1), CCC Lamding-Thoubal (24), CCC Bishnupur (1) and CAPF (1).The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in the State has risen to 9280 (general population 7266, Central security personnel 2014) .
It includes 2333 active cases (general population 1987, Central security personnel 346) and 6887 discharged cases (general population 5222, Central security personnel 1665).Meanwhile, the recovery rate has further declined to 74.21 per cent.
