Main accused in jewellery heist held

The main accused of a jewellery heist known as MP Jewellers Robbery Case has been apprehended by a combined team of Assam Police and Manipur Police .
One Lourembam Robinson alias Benin (35) of Yumnam Leikai, Ngakraba Leirak was arrested from his home by the combined team yesterday.
He was allegedly involved in robbing 7/8 Kgs of gold at gunpoint from a jewellery shop at Guwahati .
Assam Police have taken Robinson to Guwahati from City police station today .
Robinson was produced before a relevant Court of Imphal West yesterday and police obtained due permission of the Court to take the accused to Guwahati, informed a source .
At around 7 pm of May 9 this year, four armed persons barged into MP Jewellers located at GS Road, Guwahati and robbed gold jewellery items weighing around 7/8 Kgs and worth several crore rupees.
The robbers fired three shots from their pistols and robbed several gold jewellery items after breaking the display counter using a hammer, added the source.
