CCpur, September 16 2017: The Assam Rifles conducted a mass social awareness programme at Sangaikot sub-divisional headquarters today, with over 700 people turning up for the event .

Stalls from Horticulture, Fisheries, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, PNB, Axis, HDFC Banks, and dedicated counters for PAN and AADHAR related problems were set up during the programme .

Churachandpur ADC Chairman Khaipao Haokip along with officers from the Assam Rifles graced the programme, which they claimed was organised to educate the locals about government schemes like Jan Dhan Yojana, MGNREGS, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, NRHM, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan etc .

A medical and dental camp was also organised alongside the awareness programme where about 143 children, 48 people availed the opportunity to registered themselves for Aadhar and PAN, said a statement issued by the AR .

Considerable numbers of youths, who are willing to join the forthcoming Army Recruitment Rally 2017 at Leimakhong on Oct 3, were queued for enrolled .

Meanwhile, the Khuga Battalion under its Self observed and Initiated Little (SOIL) projects have constructed a bathing and washing space for women at Hiangtam Khunou, in Singngat sub-division .

The project which was taken up near the village Water Storage Tank is meant to ensure privacy for women when they bath or wash in the open.
