MSME (micro, small & medium enterprises) Expo starts

Under the objective of assisting skilled handloom and handicraft artisans market their products a weeklong MSME (micro, small & medium enterprises) Expo cum Food Fair got underway at Hapta Kangjeibung, Palace Compound from today.
Inaugural programme of the Fair's first edition, organised jointly by the Directorate of Commerce and Industries, National Small Industries Corporation and All Manipur Entrepreneurs' Association, was held with Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam as the chief guest Expo.
Agriculture Minister Md Abdul Nasir, Principal Secretary (Comm & Ind) O Nabakishore Singh and Chief General Manager of National Small Industries Corporation (East & NE) JK Mahanta also attended the event's inauguration.
Handloom and handicraft products along with traditional food items are being put up for display/sale in 102 MSME stalls, 50 food courts and 50 food stalls.
Speaking at the occasion the dignitaries referring to skill of the local artisans exuded confidence that the event would attract encouraging number of visitors and enable them market their products.
Noting that inspite of talent/skill of Manipuri handloom and handicraft workers and similar expertise in culinary lack of market remains one of the chief factors for their trades unable to generate befitting income, the dignitaries also called upon the artisans to approach for financial assistance in order to sustain their professional interest.
