Cultural programmes to attract people in Sangai Festival

Unlike last year, Sangai Festival 2015 will hold an exclusive fusion programme of the diverse cultures of Manipur.
Last year, district day which showcased the culture of every district of Manipur was held each day throughout the festival.
Speaking exclusively to The Sangai Express, officials of Art and Culture Department said that every year, Art and Culture Department has been taking an important role in presenting the cultural diversity of the State in the best way possible.
Instead of organising similar pattern of programmes every year, the department has decided to bring a slight change in the overall cultural programmes in order to attract more crowd.
On the first day of the festival, Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, Imphal Production Unit in-charge Wangkhem Lokendro's Minungshigi Seidinnapham (choreography) will be presented.
Lai Haraoba, Thang-Ta, Thadou dance, Dashavatar dance, Pung Cholom, Raas Leela etc will be performed on the second day.
On the third day, cultural dances and folk songs of various communities of Manipur will be presented.
Dance troupes from Thailand will perform four to five cultural items on November 27 while troupes from Arunachal Pradesh and Gujarat will be performing
on November 28 .
On November 29, troupes from Kerala and Rajasthan will showcase various cultural items.
In between these cultural items, Manipuri dances and other items will also be presented.
The department has also sent invitations to Tetseo Sisters of Nagaland, Shillong Chamber Choir to perform in the festival.
Myanmar, Indonesia and Bhutan have also been invited to perform in the festival.
On the last day of the festival, Guru P Dhananjit's Machu Taretki Masak Makhal (choregraphy) will be presented.
Tourism Department will set up a temporary traditional house campus wherein customs and traditions of different communities of Manipur will be demonstrated.
