Imphal, February 04 2015:
In an attempt to placate the people of NE and the State in particular a day after the BJP referred to them as 'immigrants' in its Vision Document for Delhi poll, the BJP Manipur Pradesh said today that the party's Central leadership has accepted the mistake and rectified it while urging the people to be on guard from other 'political mongers and mud-sluggers of other political fronts' who will mint-out cheap political gimmick from such human error for which BJP had already admitted its mistake.
"The BJP Manipur would never subscribe to the term 'immigrants' used in the BJP Vision Document released for Delhi Assembly election," a statement issued by the BJP Manipur Pradesh said.
President of BJP Manipur Pradesh had a telephonic conversation with the Central leadership this morning and the Centre reassured the 'love and care' for the North East once again, the State BJP statement said.
Communicating with distinguished ranks and files of BJP head office in Delhi, President BJP Manipur pressed hard to remove the word 'immigrants' from the Vision Document for Delhi election and expressed dissatisfaction over the use of such controversial term, it added.
The State BJP president also further questioned the integrity of the controversial statement to the Central leadership, the statement said.
BJP Central leadership had sincerely clarified that it has no any bad intention towards the people of North Eastern States and people of NE State are as good as Delhi citizens.
There is no difference at all, the State BJP leader was told, according to the statement.
The word "immigrants" was erroneously used and is being removed.
This statement was made to public through the National Spokesperson of BJP MJ Akbar.
"He further said that the brothers and sisters of Manipur are the pride of Delhi.
Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of State (Home Affairs) and the face of North East in Delhi clarified that the word 'immigrant' was a typo and he regretted the error that sparked-off a controversy and hurt the sentiments of the fellow North Easterners," the BJP statement added.
"BJP Manipur stands to uphold the spirit of Manipur and it would continue to serve the purpose in the coming days too," the statement read.
