Imphal, May 31 2016:
The North East Students' Organisation has today submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Singh
seeking his intervention in restoring peace in all the North East
States.
Manjit Sarangthem, member of NESO and general secre-
tary of AMSU has today said that the organisation has urged the
Prime Minister to take up certain steps which will bring develop-
ment and also allow the people of the North East region to preserve
their cultural identities.
"The memorandum is all about bringing better change in
the North East region.
The North East States are far behind
other States in the field of education, human resource devel-
opment, judicial system and economy.
The Central Government
should resolve issues pertaining to the North East States in
such a way that the future generations are allowed to live in
peace, given a platform to bring sustainable development in the
region and safeguard their cultural identities with pride," Manjit
Sarangthem said.
It has also urged the Prime Minister to take
steps to establish regional passport and visa offices, increase
job opportunities and set up different time zone, he added.
Members student organisations of Mizoram and Nagaland
where ILPS is already in force pledged to support any move-
ment aimed at enforcing the same system in other NE States.
