GOC flags off National Integration Tour

Imphal, January 30, 2012:
A National Integration Tour (NIT) consisting of 30 students from different villages of Senapati District from class VIII to class X alongwith two teachers and a conducting team led by Maj A Karjagi was flagged off today by GOC 57 Mountain Division Maj Gen Binoy Poonnen from Maram, stated a press release of PIB (Defence) today.
The Tour was organized by 5 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Senapati Brigade of the Red Shield Division.
The tour team shall be visiting various locations at Dimapur, Siliguri and Kolkata and shall also get an opportunity to meet and interact with Army Commander Eastern Command and GOC 3 Corps during their visit in addition to various locations of Educational importance and Tourist interest.
Speaking at the Flag Off ceremony the GOC reiterated the need for broadening the horizon for the young students who are the future of the country and encouraged them to utilize this opportunity to learn about the opportunities that are available outside and to also imbibe the values of people from different State's of India which shall assist them in becoming better human beings and actively contribute towards the development of the society, further added the release.
Meanwhile, a 15-day National Integration tour organized by 6/8 Gorkha Rifles of Loktak Project under the aegis of Red Shield Division was flagged off from Ningthoukhong today.
In all, 20 students, three teachers and one PHS employee are participating in the tour.
During the 15-day tour, they would be visiting various places of interest in New Delhi, Agra and Jaipur like Rashtrapati Bhawan, Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Rajghat, India Gate, Raj Mahal, Agra Fort, Hawa Mahal and Jantar Mantar.
Flagging off the tour, Commander of Logtak Brigade Brig Laove Verma explained that the tour aimed at exposing the participants comprising 10 boy and 10 girl students selected from all major communities of Manipur namely Meitei, Naga, Kuki and Meitei Pangal, to various cultures, diversity and rich heritage of the country.
The tour would be flagged in at Leimakhong on February 15 .
