Imphal, April 17 2021:
Shiv Sena, Manipur State unit has condemned the harassment meted out to transporters by some armed miscreants on Friday (April 16) at Kaiphundai on Imphal-Jiribam road.
Briefing journalists at Babupara today, president of Shiv Sena, Manipur State unit, M Tombi contended that the annoyance caused by unknown armed miscreants at the highways is no longer bearable.
Appealing to all underground organisations and gangs concerned to stop collecting illegal taxes at the highways on humanitarian ground, M Tombi asked if they have any problem in hills and valley people settling together peacefully.
M Tombi also asked why certain groups are constantly targeting goods laden vehicles at the highways which are importing their share of foods and essentials too.
Asserting that civilians can no longer bear such intimidations/attacks, he urged the Centre and the State Government to regulate a long term policy for the convenience and safety of the transporters at the highways of Manipur.
There is no guarantee that such an incident might trigger a civil war, cautioned Tombi and urged all concerned to stop looting from the transporters for the wellbeing of all.
He also urged the CM to start deploying commandos every 10 km at the highways as assured and reward befitting punishments to culprits involved in attacking four cement laden trucks yesterday.
Speaking about the issue concerning Mt Koubru, M Tombi urged all to stop claiming ownership of the mountain, but extend support to the development projects of the mountain.
He further urged the Govt to open police outposts at Mt Koubru.
