Live Savers Manipur organised an awareness campaign on 'Voluntary Blood Donation' at Department of Transfusion Medicine, RIMS today.
The awareness campaign was organised to mark 'World Hemophillia Day-2021', which is celebrated world wide on April 17, said a statement issued by Life Savers Manipur.
Hemophillia is a medical condition where blood clots takes a lot of time to kick-in and it results in people bleeding for a longer period after an injury, easy bruising, and an increased risk of bleeding inside joints or the brain, said Dr A Barindra Sharma, professor and head, Department of Transfusion Medicine, RIMS.
He added that Hemophillia are also detected early during cutting of the umbilical cord and the bleeding does not stop, this is sign to start treatment soon and there are also schemes to provide free medicine for treatment of Hemophillia.
The event was also attended by K Padmakumar Sharma, Live Savers Manipur; Kh Premjit, SAVI and P Dhananjoy Singh (SAVI) as presidium members, added the statement.
