National, State awards conferred

A strong relationship between the government and the people is a must for maintaining peace and communal harmony in the State, asserted that Education Minister Thokchom Radheshyam.
He was addressing the 18th Peace and Communal Harmony & AMACSDS State and 1st National Awards function organised by the All Manipur Art & Culture and Sports Development Society (AMACSDS) held today at Asha hall Complex, North AOC.
21 National awards and 17 State awards were conferred to personalities from different walks of life who have been working for the uplifting the society.
Speaking as the chief guest, Radheshyam stated that one should be hard working and should try to stay busy since an empty mind tends to incline towards negative thoughts.
He stated that people need to remain positive to bring a constructive change in the society and one should try to follow the footsteps of Mother Teresa and Nelson Mandela who sacrificed their life for the well being of the people.
He appealed to the people to enrich oneself with the feelings of love, peace and amity to bring development and progress in the society.
Presiding over the function, Chairman, Pollution Control Board & Khadi & Village, MLA Oinam A/C L Radhakishore Singh stated that human needs to think positively and work hard for fetching desirable outcomes.
It is important that we learn to preserve and conserve our environment to maintain the harmony of nature, he added.
The function was also attended by Dr Syed Burhanuddin, Chairperson of Manipur State Minorities Commission; Mohd Habibullah Sheikh, Battalion Commander, MHGD & president of AMACSDS; Padmashri E Indira and retired IPS officer Firoj Khan as guests of honour.
