7 Kuki villages chiefs resolve

Chiefs of seven Kuki Villages affected by the widening of NH-202 that connects Imphal and Ukhrul, have unanimously resolved to disallow the widening of the road until and unless compensation for land acquired is provided.
The committee comprising of the 7 Kuki villages' chiefs called 'Committee on NH-202 (Imphal-Ukhrul) Double Lane Affected Kuki Villages', in a statement said that a meeting of the committee was held yesterday at the residence of L Lunminthang Khongsai with Paokholal Baite in the chair and Mangboi Baite as recording secretary.
The members welcomed the developmental project of widening or improvement of NH-202 which is being undertaken by NHIDCL during the meeting but resolved the disallow the work to proceed unless compensation for acquired land and structures is paid, the committee said in the statement.
The seven Kuki villages affected by the work are Litan Sareikhong, Mongkot Chepu, Shangkai, Lamlai Chingphei, Zalenbung, Gwaltabi Kuki (Kangpokpi district) and Mongneljang (Kangpokpi district), it said.
