Road work likely from next year

All necessary preparations are being made to initiate construction of two separate roads whose total length would be 97.85 Kms by the beginning of next year with loan from Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Talking with The Sangai Express, a PWD official said that the Ministry of DoNER would provide a package for construction of roads in the North Eastern States after taking loan from ADB.
The loan amount would be paid back by the Govt of India.
The Ministry of DoNER's package has Rs 277 crores for construction of two separate roads in Manipur whose total length would be 97.85 Kms.
Out of the total amount of Rs 277 crores, civil construction tender amount constitutes Rs 209 crores while the remaining Rs 68 crores has been set aside for consultancy and contingency charges.
The first road would connect Tupul and Bishnupur which are 50.75 Kms apart.
The second one would be 47.1 Kms long and it would connect Thoubal with Kasom Khullen.
Both the roads would be constructed as intermediate land class standard roads.
It is expected that construction of the two new roads would be completed within three years, the official added.
