State forces held with drugs

Imphal, April 28 2013:
Close on the heels of an Army Colonel and five others held with huge quantity of psychotropic drugs at Pallel, 11 State security personnel including two ranked police officers have been held with banned drugs by Thoubal district police commandos from the same location today.
According to a police source, police commando personnel in two Maruti Gypsys were on their way to Moreh.
Upon reaching Pallel, a team of Thoubal police commandos stopped the vehicles close to the new building of Pallel police station and found the vehicles carrying significant quantity of banned drugs having Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride composition.
The two drug-carrying Gypsys were led by a Sub Inspector of Imphal East district police with the other in command of a Jemadar of State's Armed police (MR/ IRB) with the latter presently attached to Thoubal district police commando.
All the occupants of the two Gypsys were in security uniform and fully armed, said the source while adding that Respifed tablets were found in a large gunny bag from the vehicle led by the SI .
The same type of psychotropic drugs were also recovered from a large airbag from the second vehicle headed by the Jemadar.
While some of the seized tablets were found in the original form (strip) others were in loose form, informed the source who nevertheless declined to disclose identities of the detained security personnel.
Even though the exact quantity or price of the confiscated drugs has not been worked out, it is said that the strip had Rs 6.56 (MRP) price tag.
All the 11 security personnel held with drugs have been detained at Thoubal district police headquarters and disarmed.
Drugs with pseudoephedrine composition are normally smuggled along the Imphal-Moreh route into Myanmar, where they are manufactured into 'World Is Yours' psychotropic drugs before the same brought into Manipur and beyond through the same route.
