ATDUM bandh endorsed, opposed

While Churachandpur District Disabled Union (CDDU) declared it would extend moral support to the 72 hours hill areas bandh called by All Tribal Disabled Union, Manipur (ATDUM), All Tribal Disables' Union, Sadar Hills asserted that it would not endorse the agitation call.
Asserting that ATDUM's bandh stand for the cause of the district disabled union too, a statement issued by the information and publicity secretary of CDDU Lianhaumuan Thangnawk said the union would extend moral support to the bandh though it has no intention to disrupt normal life.
At the same time, the CDDU also expressed concern over the discord within the disable community that made an ugly heads recently while also urging to settle any differences in the interest of the community which it claimed were far behind their counterparts in other states.
Thadou Students' Association, Sadar Hills District Committee and Ukhrul Disables' Federation have also pledged to extend moral and physical support to the 72 hours hill areas bandh called by ATDUM.
On several demands, it may be mentioned, the ATDUM has announced a 72-hr bandh in hill areas begining from midnight of Feb 17. Contrary to the bodies' support, All Tribal Disables' Union, Sadar Hills said its has taken a strong resolution not to endorse the hill districts bandh after the Union executive meeting at Kangpokpi today.
Leaders of ATDUSH today met some local media persons at Kangpokpi and declared their decision not to endorse the said bandh.
They further informed that, they (ATDUSH) did not receive prior intimation from the ATDUM regarding the bandh "so we will abstain from it".
"Therefore, we inform all the Sadar Hills general public that the 72-hour bandh called by ATDUM will not be endorsed in the district.
Normal life will not be disrupted due to the bandh," added the Union.
