Imphal, September 11 2016:
Stating that SAHNIT NI also known as Black Day will be observed by the Kuki people at various places across the State under the aegis of Kuki Inpi, Manipur and KSO, General Hqs, the student body spelt out the details of how the day will be observed on September 13 .
On the said day, religious function and rally will be organised at Khongsai Veng at Imphal; Peace ground, Tuibong; Sangaikot and Singhat at Churachandpur district; Kangpokpi, Saikul, Kangchup and Sinam Khaithong at Sadar Hills; Tengnoupal and Moreh at Chandel district; Phaitol/ Jiribam at Tamenglong district and Tuisomjang at Ukhrul district.
Rallies will be held on the day to draw the attention of the Centre to the unrequited appeal of the Kuki people to settle the case of 905 innocent Kukis killed by the NSCN (IM) and added that in the violence perpetrated against the Kukis in the 90s, 360 villages were uprooted and more than 100,000 villagers were rendered refugees.
Even today the Centre has been keeping mum on the repeated appeals to deliver justice to the innocent Kukis killed and many others who were rendered homeless, it said.
Rather than punish the NSCN (IM) for the genocide, the Government of India even rolled out the red carpet and signed the Framework Agreement, it said and added that the Kuki people will never accept this and continue to seek justice.
The student body also spelt out the rationale of SAHNIT NI and gave a detailed account of the customary ritual of the Kukis in mourning the tragic death of any Kuki.
It also dwelt on how the UNC served quit notices to Kuki villages on October 22, 1992 which resulted in the ethnic cleansing policy of the NSCN (IM) .
