In connection with the arrest of a woman drug peddler at Bangaluru on October 3 by Central Crime Branch, Women and Narcotic Drug squad, the Leimakhong Bazar Authority clarified that the woman drug peddler is not from Leimakhong as stated in some National and State dailies.
The woman drug peddler arrested by the CCB sleuths has been identified as Wichamthonliu Abonmai from Manipur.
According to the police, based on a credible tip off, they raided a house near Shaneshwara temple in Banaswadi on Wednesday and seized 35 grams of the banned drug, Rs 1,000 in cash and an iPhone - total worth of Rs 3.4 lakh from the accused.
The media report as per the police source said that the 23 year-old drug peddler who had rented out a house in Banaswadi hailed from Leimakhong in Manipur.
Strongly denying the report, the Leimakhong Bazar Authority clarified that there is no such person by the name Wichamthonliu Abonmai in Leimakhong bazar in Kangpokpi District as per the village census record maintained by the Leimakhong Bazar Authority.
It also said that the denizens of Leimakhong area were shocked on hearing such news reports and Leimakhong Bazar Authority swung into action immediately to ascertain the veracity of the news report and subsequently found that no such woman by the name Wichamthonliu Abonmai existed in the village census of Leimakhong.
It further said that the disclosing the identity of the woman in all leading national and state newspaper was nothing but only to defame the hard earn good image of Leimakhong and the law abiding denizens of Leimakhong will never accept such false allegation in any manner.
The Leimakhong Bazar Authority also appealed the media house to verify the authenticity of the news and avoid publishing such unverified news in future in the larger interest of all.
