Bishnupur, October 14 2018:
Campaign for Election Reformation in India for Proportionate Representation (CERT) organized district level one-day discussion programme on "Electoral Reformation for a Free and Fair Election" at Conference Hall, Hotel Lake View today.
The discussion programme was attended by Chief Functionary CERI Jyothi, National Coordinator of CERI Manas Jena, Ex-Minister Dr M Nara and Ex-MLA Moirang AC Salam Gopal Singh as presidium members while many intellectuals and social activists of Bishnupur District also took part in the programme.
Speaking at the occasion, Ex-Minister Dr M Nara Singh said that the present Democratic System of India is Election Based Representative Democracy (EBRD) while in some foreign countries Proportionate Electoral System (PES) is in place.
He pointed out that PES gives more preference to justice, equality, inclusiveness and representation and is better than EBRD.
He also mentioned that PES is implemented in 89 countries while adding that India will develop and progress faster if PES is implemented in the country.
To achieve good governance in India, it is time to switch democratic system from Election Based Representative Democracy (EBRD) to Proportionate Electoral System (PES), he added.
