Only love can ensure better relationship, says Shyamkumar

Forest & Environment Minister Th Shyamkumar has categorically stated that only "love" can bring closer ties and ensure better relationship amongst all the communities living in the State.
Th Shyamkumar, while attending as the chief guest of the 17th Veikhang Katamnao Long (VKL) general conference cum sports meet held at Khangkhui Khonou village, Ukhrul, expounded on the need to uphold the teaching of Jesus Christ.
Saying that such annual event has been providing a platform for the locals to exhibit their talents both in sports and literary, the Minister assured to initiate bamboo plantation project in the Veikhang area from this year onwards under National Bamboo Mission.
This will provide a sustainable livelihood for the villagers as well as protect the area from erosion, he said urging the locals to preserve forest to protect the environment.
Speaking about the pitiful road condition, the Minister asserted that he will approach the Chief Minister and Work Minister to repair the road that connects Ukhrul District Headquarters at the earliest.
Meanwhile, president of VKL, Ringphapam Kasar highlighted the negligence of the State Government to repair the deplorable road and fast degrading forest due to wanton felling of trees in the villages.
Mh Moon, vice president of NPF, Ukhrul division lauded Shyamkumar for his enthusiasm in the hill district and responding to the call of the hill people by attending many events.
The programme began with traditional chaunting and traditional folk dance from Choithar Village Youth Club.
Shyamkumar opened the sports meet by lighting the ceremonial torch.
He also unveiled the memorial stone of the general conference cum sports meet 2020.The six-day event held under the theme " Embracing Excellence" would witness several sporting events, cultural items and literary competition among others.
Ukhrul ADC Member, Mark Luithing, ex-MLA candidate Somatai Shaiza also attended the programme.
Altogether seven neighbouring villages participated in the conference cum sports meets hosted by Khangkhui Phungdhar Katamnao Long.
