Imphal, July 10:
Consumer Forum slapped Rs 20000 penalty to private flier Air Deccan authority for being not able to attain the grievance of one of its riders Khangenbam Indramani Meitei of Haoreibi Awang Leikai.
Indramani a student of Sindhi College Bangalore on his way back to home on Decembar 11 last year booked a seat in an Air Deccan flight (DN559) along with his luggage containing books and computer equipment at Kolkata airport.
However, when he reached Imphal Airport, the said luggage was missing.
Indramani lodged a complain regarding the matter immediately to Imphal station manager of the private aviator by filling up a Property Irregularity Report (PIR).
However, Air Deccan authorities were unable to trace the luggage, instead they used unparliamentary language to Indramani when inquired.
He lodged a complaint to Consumers' Club, Imphal on December 26 in this regard.
The club then sent pre-trial notice to station manager of Deccan Airlines three times but no avail.
The club then filed a case at Consumer Forum and the forum in turn asked the private operator to compensate the consumer a sum of Rs 20000 .
