Lamka, May 08:
A man identified as Jangkhongam Lhungdim was apprehended today with fake currencies worth rupees ten thousand after pursuing him in public by IRB personnel, following an alert vendor's alarm, reports our Churachandpur correspondent.
Nine counterfeit currencies of 500 denominations were recovered from his bag beside the changes he had already obtained after purchasing commodities from several shops.
Hailing from Satang village under Sikul PS, Lhungdim claimed that the currencies were given to him by his brother and that he was unaware of its authenticity.
However, he was numb when asked; why he was nervous and made a bid to escape when call back.
One vendor has already approached the police with a 500 note which he claimed was given to them by the apprehended man.
The notes in possession of Lhungdim were high grade counterfeit notes, with everything but just one ink mark missing.
For a layman the currency will surely works.
