People should not feel discouraged by the nature of their work : Shyamkumar

MAHUD Town Planning Minister Th Shyamkumar has said that the indigenous people of the State need not feel ashamed of working and positive change can be brougth to the society only when the people inculcate the habit of hard work.
He made the statement at the 11th foundation day function of Workers' Union Manipur organised at JNIMS conference hall today.
Speaking at the event, the Minister said that Manipuri people are often picky about the nature of their work and often want to enjoy life without any kind of struggle.
He said that one should not be discouraged by work and development can be brought to the society only when the people learn to love their work and give their best.
Shyamkumar pointed out that the reluctant nature of the people of the State when it comes to work is one of the main reasons for the increased influx of non locals into the State.
Praising the contribution of Workers' Union Manipur in cultivating work habit among the people of the State, the Minister assured every possible aid and support in providing benefits to workers, ensuring proper payment of wages etc.
Stating that new State Government would not tolerate any incoherence between promises made and the works taken up by officials, he said that Rs 1 crore and 39 lakh had been sanctioned for maintenance of areas covered by the Municipality and there has been no information as by whom and to where these funds have been utilised.
Shyamkumar further urged the people to bring matters regarding corruption and unethical practices in educational institutes and other Departments to the Government's notice.
Works Union Manipur president Keithellakpam London, JNIMS Director Professor Deben Laishram and LOUSHAL president Mutum Churamani were also present at the event as the presidium members.
