Imphal, April 29 2017:
Manipur Home Guards Employees Welfare Association has threatened to cease work from May 3 .
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, the association's president Y Mangi said that the association had been waiting patiently till April 20 for any kind positive response from the State Government regarding the increase of home guards personnel's salaries to the same level as that of a police constable.
He claimed that most of the personnel have become unsatisfied and impatient regarding their Rs 5000 per month salary though they provide 24 hours service.
He pointed out that since the authority concerned is even neglecting the directives of the Supreme Court and High Court to increase the salaries of the home guards personnel, the association would launch a cease work from May 3 .
Y Mangi further urged all home guards personnel to take part in the protest and warned that if any personnel happen to be on duty during the cease work, they would have to bear the consequences.
Expressing disappointment at the negligence shown by the authority, he said that the association would intensify their agitation if their demands are not met.
"Even if the old Government had failed, we believe the new State Government will take up proper steps to ease our suffering", he added.
