Imphal, April 29 2017:
Out of the many complaints received at the Government Anti-Corruption Cell, 15 were studied by the screening committee headed by the Chief Secretary as chairman today and the departments concerned were instructed to take up necessary action.
The other members of the screening committee are Additional Chief Secretary WL Hangshing, Additional Chief Secretary Sambhu Singh and Commissioner (DP) VK Dewangan.
The meeting held today was also attended by other members of the Anti-Corruption Cell.
Most of the complaints did not mention names of officials who took or demanded bribe or who held back files for a long time.
As such, the committee found it hard to fix responsibility and take up necessary action, said a a source while speakin to The Sangai Express.
One of the complaints says that allowing vendors to occupy streets of Khwairamband on payment of bribe led to undue congestion but it did not mention whether it was police or IMC officials who took the bribe.
Nonetheless, both the IMC and police have been instructed to look into the matter.
Another complaint says that some VDF personnel took money from motorists at Keishampat.
After studying the complaint, the committee instructed the Imphal West SP to take up necessary action.
One complaint says that files about employees' ACP (Assured Carrier Progression) had been held back for a prolonged period but it did not name the officials who held back the files, added the source.
