He noted that women vendors, cutting across community lines, have been shouldering immense responsibilities toward augmenting the State's economy.
Construction of new market sheds with a long term vision would benefit every citizen of the State.
L Sushindro said that the Lamlong Keithel was damaged by earthquake in 2016.Even as the then Government was approached to look into the matter, nothing was done to repair or re-construct the market.
The new market would be multi-storeyed and the upper floor would have sleeping space for women vendors who cannot return home due to unavoidable circumstances, Sushindro claimed.
Lamlong is a convenient market place for many women vendors who come from different hill districts.
The new market should have ample space for women coming from different hill districts and this would strengthen inter-community relations, he asserted.
The old Lamlong market has around 260 women vendors and they would be given loans of Rs 20,000 each from Bandhan Bank once the new market is constructed.
Sushindro also appealed to the women vendors to cultivate a habit of repaying bank loans in time.
On the other hand, Khurai AC MLA and Parliamentary Secretary (Home) L Sushindro was felicitated by the Khurai Kongkham Leikai Women Development committee at the local community hall today.
