Imphal, March 28 2018:
BJP Manipur Pradesh spokesman Chongtham Bijoy has filed a defamatory case against People's Resurgence and Justice Alliance (PRJA) convenor Erendro Loichombam for allegedly spreading lies and defamatory matters through social networking sites.
Speaking to media persons at the Nityaipat Chuthek office of BJP Manipur Pradesh this afternoon, Bijoy said that he filed a civil and criminal defamatory case at the Court of CJM, Imphal West today against PRJA convenor Erendro for allegedly spreading lies and defamatory matters against him and the party.
"Most of the matters posted by Erendro on social media contain elements which can defame me and the party but all of them are baseless", Bijoy asserted.
Rather than encouraging fair criticism of the BJP-led Government's initiative to eradicate corruption, some people have been spreading false and baseless allegations in media, particular social media, Ch Bijoy said.
An FIR case has been registered against ex-Chief Minister Okram Ibobi and two former Project Directors of Loktak Development Authority namely Ch Gojendro and fh Ibobi in connection with the Loktak scam.
Another FIR was lodged earlier against O Ibobi, three former Chief Secretaries and one Project Director of MDS in connection with the multi-crore MDS scam which has been handed over to the CBI.
These initiatives are clear examples of the N Biren-led Government's efforts to eradicate corruption, asserted the spokesman.
Out of 530 complaints received by the Anti-Corruption Cell, 354 have been referred to departments concerned while 307 cases have been disposed, he said.
The Lokpal and the Lokayukta Act of 2013 are undergoing series of amendments to make it more powerful.
A Lokayukja should be headed by a retired Chief Justice of a High Court who is 65 years or below and this proves to be a big hurdle throughout the country in finding Lokayuktas, Bijoy said.
