Meanwhile, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi who is also MANIREDA Chairman has directed concerned officials to replace conventional electricity with solar power in all district-level Government offices.
The Chief Minister has also instructed MANIREDA to ensure that conventional electricity is available where electric wires can be strung and provide solar power where it is difficult to string wires.
On the other hand, one official of Power Department informed that the power situation in the State would not be able to make any substantial improvement until the existing 132 KV power line used in transmission of power from other States to Manipur is upgraded or replaced by a power line of 400 KV.
