Imphal, July 15 2015 :
Infrastructure deficit gripped Nambashi High School, one of the most prominent educational institutions not only in Kasom Khullen subdivision but also in the entire Ukhrul district.
In a statement, Dardouy/Nambashi Katamnao Long said that the school is without staff quarters, proper school building, kitchen for cooking midday meal, toilets, compound fencing, water tank and hostel to accommodate students coming from other places.
The infrastructure deficit has compelled many local students including those from economically weak background to pursue their education at other far-off places much to their disadvantage.
The school has only four class rooms.
As such, the arts and crafts room, computer laboratory etc constructed under RMSA provision have been turned into class rooms.
Ironically, the school has been run without a clerk since 1994.Repeated appeals to the authority concerned for appointment of clerk have no effect, the students' body pointed out.
At present, there are only 7/8 teachers.
It has no Science teacher.
Many petitions requesting the appointment of adequate teachers and the sanctioned SGT fell on a deaf ear.
Due to lack of teachers, about 18 students who are appearing Class X Board exam next year have attended coaching classes in Imphal with heavy expenses.
Drawing the attention of the authority concerned in this regard, the Dardouy/Nambashi Students' Union warned of launching intense agitation if their demands are not met at the earliest.
