Motorcycle tour reaches State capital

A motorcycle tour carrying the message of the total literacy and quality education programme under Rotary India Literacy Mission reached the State capital this afternoon.
In an interaction with media persons at the Classic Grande Banquet Hall with officials of Rotary Club of Imphal and Rotary Club of Polo City, motorist Bharath Gowda, member of Rotary Club of Bangalore, said the tour is set to cover 20,000 km across the country in 120 days.
Rotary India Literacy Mission aims to achieve total literacy through its comprehensive program called T-E-A-C-H (T � Teacher Support, E � learning, A � Adult Literacy, C � Child Development, H � Happy School).

The total literacy and quality education programme under the mission has specific focus inter-linked with others in objective and content, accompanied by improvement in learning and spread of adult literacy in various parts of the country.
The trip started from Bangalore on July 17 to spread awareness about the TEACH programme and also to encourage youths to propagate literacy, Bharath stated while adding that he will get actively engaged with various Government schools and collect data about literacy from various places during the tour.
Narrating the hardships and difficulties he faced on his solo journey, Bharath said "Fortunately there has been no major incident to deter the trip but, night journey has been difficult" .
Upon reaching Imphal, the motorist visited an orphanage at Kanglatongbi.
He is scheduled to leave Imphal on August 16 after assessing various schools in Imphal.
