Imphal, July 13 2018:
Shiv Sena State unit has demanded re-survey of the Indo-Myanmar boundary from BP no 79 to 81 and verify that the boundary of Manipur which was there when it merged into the Indian Union is still intact.
Speaking to media persons at their Babupara office today, Shiv Sena State unit president M Tombi alleged that the Government of India gave away parts of Manipur's territory on several occasions wittingly or unwittingly.
Taking due note of the letter written by the Chief Minister to the Centre to send a border survey team, Tombi said that the Indo-Myanmar boundary should be re-surveyed from BP no 79 to 81.The State Government should refer to the map of Manipur of 1949 during the boundary survey and check whether the State's territory which was there when it merged into the Indian Union is still intact or not, Tombi said.
People who have thorough knowledge of the State's territory and boundary, people who understand Burmese languages, CSOs and political parties should be taken on board when the re-survey is done.
All the people of Manipur are duty-bound to protect her territory and they have every right to speak up when the State's territory is threatened, Tombi asserted.
Saying that a 25-member team of Shiv Sena State unit including himself inspected the controversial BP no 81 recently, Tombi claimed that the particular boundary pillar was installed not at the spot agreed between India and Myanmar during a bilateral meeting held at New Delhi on January 15-16, 2013.BP No 81 should be installed on the right side of Namjetlok river but the current position of the particular border pillar entails loss of 3 Kms of Manipur's territory, he said.
Revenue Minister Karam Shyam's questions to Kwatha villagers like whether they saw installation of border pillars or whether they have documents to prove loss of Manipur's territory due to installation of border pillars were totally irrelevant and unwarranted, Tombi remarked.
The Minister should have raised those questions to me DC or the Surveyor General of India, he said.
It is very clear that certain portions of Manipur's territory have been lost to Myanmar, Tombi added.
