NEIHA session begins at MU

Deputy Chief Minister, Gaikhangam today set the 34th Annual Session of NE India History Association into motion at the Centenary Hall of Manipur University.
Addressing the inaugural function, Dy CM Gaikhangam cautioned historians to be fair while presenting historical accounts.
He urged all concerned to be free from bias and influence of any section of the society.
Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar, who is also a life member of NEIHA, spoke at length about the role of NEIHA in promoting regional history of the North East.
NEIHA, since its inception on April 19, 1979, has been conducting such sessions regularly in different States of the NE.
The Association has at present over a thousand members.
Manipur University has earlier hosted the session in 1982, 1990 and 2000.Apart from delegates from NE States, the three-day session this year also registered the participation of delegates from Bangladesh.
Amongst others, the inaugural function today was attended by President of NEIHA, Prof Anwar Hussian; Vice-Chancellor of RG University, Itanagar, Prof Tamo Mibang; General Secretary of the Association, Prof AK Thakur; Local Secretary of NEIHA, Prof Salam Irene and Registrar of MU, Prof N Lokendra Singh as the guests of honour.
VC of MU, Prof HNK Sarma was the functional chairman of the inaugural programme.
