Office bearers elected

The State Platform of Disable Peoples Organisations Manipur (SPDPOM) has elected its new office bearers for the tenure of 2015-17 as well as drawn a road-map for the organisational development in all the districts of the State.
Speaking at a press conference held at Manipur Press Club, SPDPOM president Dr S Jashwobanta said that the organisation was formed on April 24, 2011 in a congregation of differently abled persons hailing from different parts of the State.
Johnson from Senapati, Kamleinlal Samto from Sadar Hill, Chingningkim from Churachandpur, Yunus Khan from Imphal West have been elected as the vice-president, organisation secretary, finance secretary and games and sports secretary respectively, he added.
The newly elected organisation secretary Kamleinlal Samto said that this year, the organisation would impart awareness to differently abled persons on different Government schemes.
He further said that differently abled persons need proper education, which the Government have been neglecting.
The organisation has been requesting the private schools to train their teachers on teaching differently abled persons, he added.
The Constitution offers different benefits to differently abled persons but the Government does not implement it fully till today, he said.
He further said that the body would work from the grassroot level with an aim to bring social and economic development of differently abled persons.
