Imphal, April 11 2015 :
On the occasion of the "Martyrs' Day" (April 13), the proscribed RPF and its armed wing PLA have paid befitting homage to all the 'martyrs' who have laid down their lives in the course of Manipur's liberation movement.
The outfit also conveyed its deepest regards for all the civilians who have been killed by adversary forces as well those people who have been suffering under the alien rule.
According to a press release issued by the outfit's Publicity Secretary Roben Khuman, nine pioneer PLA cadres achieved martyrdom in the battle of Kodompokpi, April 13, 1982 .
It was one battle which vividly demonstrated the spirit and conviction of the liberation movement.
Since then, the battle of Kodom-pokpi never fails to inspire the ongoing liberation movement.
The martyrs of Kodom-pokpi left behind a legacy of fighting the enemy till the last breath and this legacy is very much alive among PLA cadres today, it asserted.
The legacy to engage the invading enemy till the last man dates back to very olden days.
"The martyrs' day beckons each and every Manipuri to join the liberation movement in order to restore sov- ereignty of Manipur which has been forcibly usurped by India", it alleged.
It also appealed to all the people of Manipur to join the solemn function of offering tributes at the Cheiraoching memorial tomb of the martyrs on April 13 as done since the past many years.
It then appealed to all households to light up lamps at their residential gates in the evening as a mark of respect to the departed souls.
The outfit further appealed to all the people not to organise or participate in any entertainment programme on the 'Martyrs Day' .
