Kangpokpi, November 10 2018:
The suspension of Thadou Students' Association Sadar Hills proposed bandh over hit and run case near Sapormeina on Chavang Kut night has been extended till November 12 in a meeting held with the Social Welfare Minister on November 8 .
The student body had earlier called bandh along the National Highways from midnight of November 6 till justice is delivered to bereaved family of Lamminthang Kipgen, who was killed in a Hit and Run case.
However, considering the various important festivals in the State, it had suspended its proposed stir on humanitarian ground.
Thangpimang, Social and Culture Secretary said that we have decided to begin the suspended stir right after the festivals celebration but as an understanding was arrived in a meeting held with the Social Welfare Minister Nemcha Kipgen on November 8, we further extended the proposed bandh till November 12.However, the dead body of Lamminthang Kipgen will remain unclaimed at RIMS Morgue till the culprits involved in the hit and run case are identified and nabbed by the police, he added.
He continued that die decision to further suspend our proposed stir came after talks with Social Welfare Minister could be sustained while the Minister also assured to help in any forms until investigation and search for the culprits is accomplished.
The students' body also appealed the State Home Department and police to take serious measures and put commendable efforts to book the culprits within the stipulated time so as to avoid further occurrence of such unwanted incident.
It further cautioned that if the culprits are left to go free and untraceable, the state Home Department and police would be accounted for the failure of their duties and they should be solely held responsible for any intense stir on the part of the TSA Sadar Hills.
TSA Sadar Hills urged the State Government to compensate the deceased family on humanitarian ground as the victim was the only bread earner in the family leaving behind three sons including two minors and an infant along with his wife in the unfortunate hit and run incident.
The students' body also appealed the general public of Manipur to extend full cooperation on humanitarian ground as the students' body has already carried out its humanitarian gesture upon the people of Manipur during various unavoidable festivals.
