New Year celebrated at Kpi with zeal and fervour

People of Kangpokpi DHQs descended to celebrate the New Year 2019 and witnessed one of the most captivating celebrations in a glitch-free environment as the charming Deputy Commissioner Kangpokpi set the mood of the revelers at Kangpokpi Christian Church (KCC) yesterday.
Earlier, thousands of revelers, including women and teens, young and old, Christian and non-Christian heralded the New Year on December 31 evening in the Christian dominated town in grand style as they dance, cheer, screamed and greeted each other while partying hard well past midnight.
As usual, members of Kuki Christian Church, Kangpokpi continued its Midnight Service with its belief of picking a Bible Verse each by all the members of the Church which has been done since the past many years exactly when the clock struck 12.New Year's 'Blessing Tea' was served to all members of the Church by the women society of the Church right after the culmination of Midnight Service outside the Church.
The celebration of New Year at KCC was stirred up with the presence and participation of Dr Rangitabali Waikhom, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Kangpokpi where the lady IAS officer sing, dance and make merriment with the Church members.
The members of KCC were very impressed by the gesture of Deputy Commissioner with her down to earth personality.
"Nowadays, at this age of advance technology, people used easiest means of communication to wish their near and dear ones even on important occasion also but today we have gathered to sing, dance and enjoy together the celebration of New Year which is the most important part of the celebration", said the IAS officer.
The Deputy Commissioner also helped the Church in its construction of the Church Guest House and wished the people of Kangpokpi a prosperous New Year.
KCU (Men Society) of KCC who has invited the Deputy Commissioner to attend the grand celebration of New Year along with the Women Society, presented the Deputy Commissioner a traditional 'Phanek' and a memento on behalf of the Church as token of love and keepsake of the New year 2019 .
