Recovering drug abusers lead cleanliness service at RIMS

A one day cleanliness service was conducted at Department of Psychiatry & Clinical Psychology, RIMS, Imphal today.
The programme with the theme - "Abstinence Possible" led by recovering drug abusers was conducted under the aegis of Prof & Head, Psychiatry, RIMS Imphal Dr RK Lenin Singh.
Speaking at the event, Dr RK Lenin encouraged the recovering drug abusers and urged them to lead healthy and clean life.
Emphasising that drug abusers need spiritual coun selling and meditation for recovery, he urged them to keep themselves engaged and volunteer for social works.
Engaging in various activities will keep their minds away from drugs, he said.
He said that the recovering drug abusers keep themselves engaged in gardening and various other activities in the department and encouraged them to take up the passion and interests they have as hobby and start fresh.
Of a total of over 60 persons, about 15 recovering addicts and their families took part in the event.
Yumnam Ranjan of Khurai Chingabam Leikai who is now leading a clean life, said that he once lived life of an outcast when he was using drugs.
Saying all that have changed now as he has been free of drugs for years, he thanked Dr Lenin, staff and inmates of the department for the change in his life.
He encouraged the recovering drug abusers to shun drugs and live life to the fullest.
