Imphal, January 02 2019:
Refuting various allegations slapped against the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur (COHSEM), Secretary Ch Biren Singh, has clarified that vacant posts were 'filled on daily wage basis for three months only' .
Speaking to media persons during a press meet at his office in Babupara, Imphal, Biren said that of the 7 drivers employed, one is dead and two others are non-performing due to medical conditions.
The council was left with only four drivers.
Additional drivers were hired on daily wage basis to meet the daily business needs of the council, he said.
Six staff of the council are now engaged in a six month accounts training programme.
With load of works increasing with the implementation of National Academic Depository, document verification and others, he said the council is 'short of staff.
"So staffs - 2 LDAs and 2 drivers were hired for three months on daily wage basis only to mend the shortage.
They were not hired on contract basis or Adhoc," he clarified.
Proper guidelines and formalities will be followed when recruiting the posts in regular basis, he said.
He dwelt on the achievements and plans Of the Council in 'further enriching the learning environment and materials for the students'.
The common syllabus adopted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education from the academic session 2018-19 will solve the problems student and teaching communities have been facing for years.
The students now will be able to face all India common entrance examinations better, said Biren.
"The common syllabus based on NCERT was adopted to solve problems/inconveniences faced by the students when facing all India examinations," he said.
The council is now working in line with MHRD's National Academic Depository (NAD) Programme of the Government of India which will facilitate students to avail and use their respective digitally stored academic awards and other documents.
NAD is a National database set up to hold academic awards issued by academic institutions in electronic form, he informed.
The council has been conducting 'error free' examinations using advanced technologies.
These technologies and systems such as use of bar code and coding machines has facilitated the council in declaring the results of examinations in time and give ample time to the students to enrol in institutions/universities they want, he said.
Recently, the council conducted a three day workshop to sensitise teachers for successful implementation of the current syllabus and curricula.
About two thousand teachers attended the workshop, he said.
Saying that several steps have been taken up for the welfare of the employees of the council, he said that pension schemes have been started for its employees.
He thanked Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Education Minister Th Radheshyam and Revenue Minister Karam Shyam for enlarging the office of the council by giving it a 90x110 feet land south of the office building.
