Imphal, March 09 2017:
Reacting to Chief Minister Okram Ibobi ' s comment regarding the 11 th State Assembly election as a referendum in the hills and valley, BJP Manipur Vice President M Asnikumar Singh has said that it is quite unfortunate the Chief Minister seems oblivious of the people's right to vote according to their own will.
Speaking to media persons at BJP State Unit's office at Nityaipat Chuthek, Asnikumar said that BJP would not react lightly to the Congress' action of breaking the model code of conduct by ignoring the people's right to choose their leader.
Accusing the Congress party of using force and unconstitutional means of voting like proxy in the election, Asnilaimar pointed out that BJP would request ECI to conduct a repoll alleging that in their desperation to come to power again, the Congress party has been resorting to various unethical practices at numerous polling stations.
He said that BJP would urge ECI to conduct repoll at Nungba, Phungyar, Chandel and Tipaimukh adding that if the ECI can produce video proof of fair election at the polling stations, there would be no need for repoll but if it cannot, then a repoll is the only option.
"In a desperate attempt to form a Congress Government again.
Deputy Chie Minister Giakhangam deployed many bullet-proof vehicles and numerous security forces around the polling stations", he said adding that BJP would urge the ECI to look into the matter as well.
Asinkumar expressed desire for repoll at 54/25, 54/ 26,54/27, 54/41 polling stations of Nungba, 13 polling stations
in Phungyar, 8 polling stations in Chandel and 3 polling stations in Tipaimukh where unethical voting practices allegedly took place.
"BJP will win the 11th State Assembly election by a landslide while the Congress can secure only 20 seats at the maximum", Asnikumar said adding that BJP would valiantly face any unconstitutional practices by the Congress.
