Bomb explodes

Imphal, March 09 2017:
A bomb exploded on the median of NH 39 on the southern side of Singjamei Super Market at around 4.20 pm today.
According to information culled from the spot, the bomb exploded moments after a military truck went past the spot.
The bomb was an IED of moderate intensity and it was suspected to be remote-controlled.
Even though same damage was done to the road median, there was no human casualty.
A police team led by Imphal West Additional SP Dr Sarangthem Ibomcha came and inspected the blast site.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered at Singjamei police station regarding the blast.
Incidentally, nine people were injured when a bomb exploded in front of a pharmacy near Kasturi bridge, Thangal Bazar yesterday evening.
Meanwhile, an IED weighing around 5 Kgs was discovered by a police team from a canal at Naralkonjil at around 6 pm today.
Some unidentified people who came in a car suddenly stopped and turned back on seeing police personnel who, were frisking passers-by along Naralkonjil near the local crematorium.
The unidentified persons also dropped a black polythene inside a nearby roadside drain.
Even as the unidentified persons managed to flee away, police cordoned off the area and waited for arrival of bomb disposal squad.
Later, a bomb disposal squad found an explosive weighing around 5 Kgs inside the polythene bag .
The bomb was set off safely on the bank of nearby Chandranadi river.
