The Assam Rifles of Red Shield Division of 59 Mountain Brigadier nabbed one cadre of underground and busted the active militant camp at New Chingkao of Tousem SubDivision of Tamenglong district of Manipur yesterday.
The arrested person has been identifying as one Kabipou 22, Rongmei suspected to be an active cadre NSCN-K of proper Tousem village.
The arrested has been handed over to the Imphal West police, said the press release issued by the AR.
According to the source available here, on receiving the news about the movement of UGs in the area of New Chingkao of Tousem Sub-Division, Tamenglong district a joint operation was launched last 6 to 8 Feb 2010, during which one active cadre of NSCN-K was nabbed and the rest of the cadres able to fled on seeing the security forces.
The security forces also recovered number of living shelters, dug out and training area with different types of modified training apparatus, combat dresses, clothing items, war like stores, incriminating documents and some photographs of the active cadres of NSCN-K and NNC from the camps, the source said.
The camp has been destroyed and burn down the camps and other belonging by the security forces.
On interrogation to the local people it was reported that the camp was actively used by NSCN-K and NNC in the areas, the source added.
Further, the released said it was given a major setback to the UGs operating in this area.
The security forces efforts and its huge success was lauded by the local people as they are also fed up with various unlawful activities and harassment cause to them by the militants in this area.
Another release of the 11 Assam Rifles said that a polio vaccination programme was held at Tamenglong HQs and Khongsang out post.
As many as 171 children were vaccinated on the same day and it was lauded by the local people, the source said.
