Loktak Khorjei Lup observes 6th foundation day

The 6th foundation day of Loktak Khorjei Lup was observed today at Sendra Ningthou Community Hall.
During the observance, a yearly journal of the lup was released and feted four artistes (singers and writers).
The 2nd Loktak Lairembi Khoirirol Mana was conferred to renowned writer Lanchenba Meitei while MM Ahamad was conferred with the 1st Ningthoujam Ningthemjao Ningsing Khoirirol Mana 2021 .
The two singers that were conferred awards are Langathel Thoinu (1st Ningombam Premkumar Amasung Memcha Ningsing Moirangshai Mana) and Ningthoujam Dasumati Devi (1st Wangoo Khongnang Ningsing Khongjom Parba Mana 2021).The recipients were given cash, citations and a copy of the journal each.
Lok Sabha MP Dr RK Ranjan Singh, Loktak Khorjei Lup president O Tomba Singh, Education (S) Government of Manipur Director L Nandakumar Singh, DIPR Government of Manipur Director Heisnam Balkrishna Singh and Loktak Development Authority SE Ng Sanajaoba Singh were the presidium members of the function.
At the event, RK Ranjan lauded Loktak Khorjei Lup for providing literary service to the people with utmost dedication since the last few years.
Stating that the lack of a reading culture is one major factor that is hindering the promotion of local writers, the MP appealed all to inculcate the habit of reading to help the local writers and also to increase the ability to empathize.
More efforts should be put to explore Manipuri's literature which is revered by the people, he said and appealed to the artistes, especially the writers to reflect about the shrinkage/degradation of Loklak Lake on their works to save this mirror of Manipur from further contamination.
The MP also announced that one auditorium of the lup will be built soon.
