Rabi crop seeds were today distributed to farmers of Wangoi Assembly constituency under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) at Thiyam Leishangkhong Awang community hall.
The seed distribution function was attended by Wangoi AC MLA O Lukhoi, Moulavi Rahimuddin, RKVY in-charge H Ibocha, KVK Thoubal programme co-ordinator Dr M Thoithoi and Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer Ch Jyotin as presidium members.
Apart from pea and mustard seeds, fertilizers and pesticides were also distributed to the farmers.
Speaking at the occasion, O Lukhoi said that repairing of Imphal Barrage has been fully completed ahead of the next season's first cropping period.
IFCD officials have been consulted to pull the shutters (of the barrage) from next month.
Moreover, a water pump set which can draw up 70 litres of water per second has been arranged, Lukhoi stated.
Saying that shutters of the barrage were repaired at the cost of Rs one crore, the MLA conveyed gratitude to the Chief Minister for the same.
Preparations are being made to open an SBI branch at Wangoi before Chief Minister opens a sub-treasury office at Wangoi next month.
Dr M Thoithoi made a brief explanation on zero tillage cultivation of mustard and also on scientific methods of cultivating pea.
This was followed by an interaction session.
Meanwhile, a campaign of cultivating pea on harvested paddy fields was launched today at Lilong Haoreibi Konjin by Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Abdul Nasir.
MLA O Lukhoi, Dr M Thoithoi and other officials were also present at the occasion.
