Abduction of drivers: Will seek Nagaland Govt's help if necessary: Dy CM

Concerned with frequent incidents of abduction of drivers of trucks and buses plying along Imphal-Dimapur Road (NH-2) by armed miscreants for ransom including the recent abduction of a driver of Royal Rajdhani tourist bus on November 27, Deputy Minister Gaikhangam has said that the State Government would seek Nagaland Government's assistance, if necessary, to stop such unwanted incidents along the national highway.
He was responding to the queries raised by media persons on the sideline of a function held at Chingmeirong here today.
Gaikhangam further said that Manipur Police is in constant touch with their Nagaland counterparts to trace the whereabouts of abducted bus driver of Royal Rajdhani.
The State Government would leave no stone unturned to rescue the driver.
He condemned the abduction as an unruly act of some anti-social elements and pledged to find out those culprits involved in the incidents.
Furthermore on the issue of involvement of an officer of Manipur Rifles in the recent drug haul at Lilong, Deputy Chief Minister said that the drug traffickers whether government employees or not would not be spared from getting punished as per law.
The State Government would act tough against those people who are smuggling psychotropic drugs in the State, he enjoined.
