Cabinet okays opening of Regional Passport and FCI offices at Old Assembly Complex
Disturbed Area Status extended for one year, Assembly Session from Dec 18

The State Cabinet, in its meeting chaired by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi at his Secretariat this afternoon, has approved opening of offices for Regional Passport and Food Corporation of India (FCI) at the present location of Old Assembly Complex here.
Talking to media persons after the meeting, Spokesperson of State Government Minister M Okendro said that a Regional Passport Office would be opened in Imphal soon taking in account of the recent upgradation of Tulihal Airport as an international airport.
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has been urging the central leaders for opening of a Passport Office to mitigate problems faced by the people of the State while trying to obtain passports from Guwahati.

The Centre has finally approved the State's request.
Subsequently, the Cabinet approved utilization of northern block of Old Assembly Complex as a temporary Passport Office.
He further stated that the Cabinet also approved utilization of southern block of Old Assembly Complex on temporary basis for opening of FCI Regional Office.
The opening of FCI office was recently approved by Union CAF&PD Minister Prof KV Thomas during the inauguration of FCI Godown at Mayangkhang Ningthoupham in Senapati district.
Okendro also said that the 6th Session of 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly would begin from December 18 .
However, the number of sittings would be fixed later by the Business Advisory Committee.
According to a reliable source, the 6th Session would not be a lengthy one.
The session might probably conclude before the beginning of the New Year, 2014 .
On the other hand, Minister Okendro said that the Disturbed Area Status would be extended for another one year in the State excluding Imphal Municipal Area.
The Disturbed Area Status is due to expire on November 30 tomorrow.
Furthermore, opening of an ICDS office at Lilong and transfer of power to Head of Departments (HODs) regarding service extension of contractual employees were also approved by the State Cabinet today.
The Spokesperson also announced that the National Food Security Act would be implemented fully in the State from March next year as per the decision of State Cabinet.
