Red Ribbon club opens at JNMDA

The Red Ribbon Club (RRC) of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA) was formally launched today at a ceremony held at the Academy's auditorium here.
RRC-JNMDA is the 61st Red Ribbon Club opened by Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS) at various educational institutions and youth clubs under NYKS.

Director (IEC) MACS attended the ceremony of opening the latest RRC as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, L.Upendro Sharma observed that knowledge of HIV and AIDS is very important for youth and particularly for the students of JNMDA.
Stating that the students of the Academy are frequently visiting various places in India as well as abroad for various cultural shows, he noted that it is possible that they might be infected by the virus if they are not aware about HIV/AIDS.
Therefore, RRC-JNMDA will surely inform and educate them about HIV and AIDS, he added.
Tombinou Devi said that adolescent period is the most crucial period in one's life.
During this period they need proper guidance so that they become better citizen tomorrow.
So, Red Ribbon Clubs will guide them to stay away from HIV, she said.
It may be mentioned that RRCs are open at colleges affiliated to Manipur University and Youth Clubs under Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathans (NYKS).
There are 40 RRCs in colleges and 20 in NYKS.
