Govt Polytechnic at Moreh in offing

The State Government is planning to set up a polytechnic at Moreh to ensure higher education to the students of Chandel district and neighbouring country Myanmar, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi said.
It was announced by the Chief Minister while speaking as chief guest at the inauguration function of an indoor stadium at Waikhom Mani Girls College in Thoubal district today.
The indoor stadium was constructed under UGC's 12th Plan.
O Ibobi said that his Government has been giving special emphasis to law and order, education and health sectors.
The State Government is planning to enhance infrastructure and recruit new faculties for aided, private and Government colleges under Centre-sponsored Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), he said and added that the scheme would benefit hills districts as well.
He added that 90 percent of the total fund for the implementation of the scheme would be provided by the Centre while only 10 percent is State's share.
Urging the governing bodies of different private colleges not to recruit additional faculties with the notion that these colleges would become Government colleges under the scheme, the Chief Minister said that faculties must be recruited with due approvals from the Government authority concerned.
Speaking at the occasion as functional president, Education Minister M Okendra said, the people of Manipur would get benefit from RUSA soon as the scheme has already been implemented in the State.
Higher and Technical Education Minister Education Commissioner P Vaiphei, Thoubal DC T Ranjit, Education (U) Additional Director R Yaiskul, Thoubal SP Dr AK Jhalajit and WMG College Principal Dr O Ibetombi also attended the function.
