Road neglected for 20 years repaired by villagers

Villagers have started repairing of the 5 km road from Thiyam Konjin to Waithou Bazar which has been neglected by the Government for more than 20 years.
In a press meet held near Thiyam Konjin Water Supply sheme today, General Secretary of Social Welfare Educational and Cultural Association (SWECA) of Thiyam Konjin, Chanam Sanayaima observed that as the Government left the road unattended for more than 20 years now, SWECA is organising a residential social service camp from yesterday to repair the road.
The three days camp will be extended to five days as the repairing work would take more in the time.
This important road has not received any attention from the Government till date, Sanayaima said.
He said that volunteers of SWECA is repairing the road for temporary use by using JCB, dumper and other vehicles, and seeking aid from social workers.
The Chief Minister had assured to look into the prolonged inundation of more than 1000 hectares of Waithou Thiyam Konjin, Waithou Chiru Saman Tangkhul villages due to lack of canal there, however failed to convert the assurance into action.
Same is the case with water supply, Sanayaima maintained and appealed the CM to keep his words and supply water to the people of the area, otherwise the water supply scheme at Thiyam Konjin will be closed down in association with clubs, organisations and people of the area.
