Imphal, May 12 2011:
Chairman of autonomous District Council, Tamenglong G Soihem Haomei has dismissed as unfounded the allegation levelled by the Noney Village Authority that he instigated Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency MP Thangso Baite not to attend the recently held inauguration of BSNL mobile tower at Noney.
reacting to a news report regarding the Village Authority's accusation and published in the May 11 edition of this paper, a statement issued by Soihem said that he declined the MP's proposal to jointly take part in the inauguration programme as no official invitation was sent to him (Soihem) .
informing that on hearing his explanation, the MP also decided to skip the event on the ground that when even the local leader was not interested to participate in the mobile tower inauguration and was unwilling to travel to Noney he (Thangso Baite) too would not go there, claimed the Chairman of autonomous District Council, Tamenglong while adding that neither Noney ADC Member Jino nor the local MLA Gaikhangam was aware of the event.
Further clarifying that the MP did not participate in the inauguration on his own volition, Soihem said he is not in a position to either ask the MP attend the event or skip the same.
