World Environment Day observed at Senapati

Senapati, June 10 2013:
District Level World Environment Day was organized by Association for Welfare and Development (AWARD) Senapati under the theme "Think-Eat-Save" in collaboration with Directorate of Environment Government of Manipur today at the Multi Purpose Hall Mini-Secretariat, Senapati with Pushpanjali, Superintendent of Police, Senapati as the chief guest.
Th Bhogen Singh, Junior Scientific Officer, Directorate of Environment, was the resource person.
The chief guest planted trees near the Multi-Purpose Hall to mark the occasion.
Th Bhogen Singh stressed on the importance of conserving the environment for the survival of humanity.
He also traced back the genesis and backdrop of observing World Environment Day since June 5, 1973.The environment day is being observed every year to spread the awareness among the world populace about the impact and importance of conserving and protecting environment.
Pushpanjali, SP, Senapati advised the participants in her speech to be wise in eating and save food without wasting it.
She emphasized on the importance of sustainable and equitable development while safeguarding natural resources and conserve environment for posterity sake.
Connie Leivon from Life Pages and the students of Brook Dale enthralled the gathering with their melodious songs.
Th Abung, Pastor, Maram Centre Church Senapati said an invocation prayer and Stevenson, Pastor PBCC, Senapati pronounced the benediction.
