Physically challenged rape victim recounts ordeals

One Khunumayum Joychandra (21) s/o Kh Indramani of Andro Khunjao Laboujam Leikai has been accused of raping a teenage girl, living with congenital problem, at a restaurant when she lost consciousness after consuming a soft drink.
Narrating her tale to The Sangai Express today 15-year old ***** d/o K Ajitkumar of Wangkhei Pukhrambam said Joychandra along with a friend accosted her at Kongba Bazar area on August 21 at around 4.30 pm, while she was walking with two of her friends.
Informing that she had met Joychandra at an earlier occasion but had no romantic relationship, a physically challenged ***** said on being insisted by Joychandra she and her friends agreed to sit for a while at Rainbow Fast Food restaurant where they consumed Sprite soft drink.
Stating that she felt slightly dizzy after having a few sips, ***** contended that Joychandra took her inside an interior room to have some private conversation only to start touching her.
Recounting that she last remembered slapping Joychandra on the face as he tried to make further advances taking advantage of her situation, ***** conceded she realised that her modesty had been outraged when she regained consciousness about an hour later.
Even though Joychandra pleaded that he will drop Rachel to her home, she and her friends reportedly raised a strong objection and told Joychandra that he will have to marry ***** which he reluctantly agreed and went out of the restaurant informing them that he will hire a vehicle only to slip away from the place and never to return back.
In search of her, *****'s parents arrived at a rented quarter also located in Kongba area, where she was taken by her friends to inform the matter to Joychandra's elder brother, who stays there with his wife, she said while adding that due to loss of consciousness, again, she was taken to Raj Polyclinic, North AOC on the same evening.
All efforts of the elder brother to contact Joychandra failed as his mobile phone was in switch off mode.
At day-break she was reportedly taken to JN Hospital and subsequently admitted to RIMS Hospital's Department of Clinical Psychology from where she was discharged after four days.
Inspite of taking medicines prescribed by doctors, she continues to loose consciousness and could not eat as before, ***** maintained hinting that the traumatic experience she has had after meeting Joychandra for the second time (August 21) is disturbing her till date.
Regretting that she realised Joychandra's demonic aspect too late, ***** desired that befitting punishment be meted to the perpetrator in order to ensure that manipuri girls, particularly those living with disabilities live in a secure environment.
On the otherhand, *****'s mother Ibecha confided that after complaints were lodged on the matter to Porompat police and then at irilbung police station, Joychandra's parents and other family members sought *****'s hand for marriage with Joychandra in addition to allegedly offering Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 to settle the issue.
Ibecha said she refused to oblige the proposal for marriage, as Joychandra's act has already demonstrated the devil in him.
